Game 5 of the NBA Finals will tip off this evening in Boston as the Celtics and Mavericks get set to play what could be a series-clinching matchup. The Celtics currently lead the series 3-1 and can officially win the championship with a victory at home tonight. Dallas is aiming to extend this series to a Game 6 that would be back home in their building in Dallas.

Before the action resumes tonight from the TD Garden in Boston, we’ve picked three of the best prop bets for Celtics vs. Mavericks in the NBA Finals Game 5.

Best prop bets for Celtics vs. Mavericks: Game 5 NBA Finals props

After a 122-84 victory in Game 4, the Mavericks extended the series and kept their championship hopes alive for at least one more game. The Celtics are still in command of this series with a 3-1 lead as the scene shifts back to Boston for Game 5 this evening. A win for the C’s would mean the 18th championship in franchise history, while the Mavericks are looking to become the first team in league history to climb out of an 0-3 series hole.

The action will get underway from the TD Garden tonight at 8:30 pm ET and before Game 5 tips off, we preview three of the best prop bets for Celtics vs. Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

Jaylen Brown over 24.5 points (-108)

The current betting favorite to win the NBA Finals MVP award, Jaylen Brown has been terrific in this series. Although he scored just 10 points in the Celtics Game 4 defeat in Dallas, Brown is still averaging an impressive 20.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists on an efficient 49% shooting in this series.

For Game 5, Jaylen Brown’s points prop is set at 24.5 which is a number I think he will surpass. Jaylen Brown has shot over 50% in three of the four matchups in this series and will now be back in Boston with a chance to secure both the series victory as well as the NBA Finals MVP trophy. I’m expecting Jaylen Brown to be aggressive as a scorer this evening and I’ll take the over on his points prop as a result.

Derrick White under 16.5 points (-115)

Derrick White has been one of the crucial performers for the Celtics during this 2024 Playoff run. After starring in the early rounds with red-hot shooting from outside, White has reverted to more of a complimentary role as the Playoffs have progressed.

In the last three games of these Finals, White’s field goal attempts and points scored have consistently decreased as he’s taken more of a backseat role to Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. With his Game 5 points prop total set at 16.5, I’m going to fade this number as Derrick White has only gone over this total one time in this series (Game 2).

Luka Doncic over 3.5 made threes (-118)

Though he’s been terrific in these 2024 NBA Playoffs as a whole, the Mavericks superstar is just 1/15 from three-point range in his last two games including an 0/8 performance in Game 4. His three-pointers made prop for Game 5 is sitting at 3.5 as Doncic has not been shy from outside already attempting 36 triples in the first four games of this series.

Seeing that Doncic is a 35% career three-point shooter, there should be some positive regression in the near future, and I don’t want to miss the game when he gets hot from outside. I’ll play the over on Luka’s three-pointers made prop tonight as I think he’s in for a big long-range shooting night.
